$4 Million Settlement for a Worker Injured After Falling from a Ladder Without Proper Safety Protection in Queens
Supreme Court, Queens County
Accident Description:
Our client, a construction worker, was performing siding work on a residential renovation project in Queens when the incident occurred. To complete his assigned task, he was required to work from a long extension ladder positioned along the exterior of the house.
While working approximately 15 to 18 feet above the ground, the ladder was not secured, and no lifelines, tie-offs, or safety harnesses were provided. As our client was installing siding, the ladder suddenly slipped out from beneath him, causing him to fall face-first onto the concrete below.
Following the fall, our client was initially told not to call for emergency assistance. Despite this, emergency medical services were contacted, and he was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment for serious injuries sustained in the fall.
Injury Summary:
As a result of the fall, our client sustained significant facial injuries that required surgical treatment, along with injuries to his neck and lower back that led to ongoing pain and limitations. He underwent spine-related treatment and continues to require medical care to manage the lasting effects of his injuries.
Settlement Result:
We at Oresky & Associates, PLLC, secured a $4,000,000 settlement on behalf of our client, reflecting the injuries he sustained in the ladder fall.
