$1.35 Million Settlement for a Roofer Seriously Injured After Falling More Than 20 Feet When a Scaffold Collapsed in Long Island

Accident Description:
While performing roofing work at a residential construction site in Long Island, our client was working approximately 25 feet above the ground while installing slate roofing materials. He was standing on a scaffold attached to the structure of the home as part of the construction process.
Without warning, a portion of the scaffold failed when a bracket detached from the building. The collapse caused our client to fall more than twenty feet to the ground below.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene, and our client was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of the severe injuries he sustained in the fall.
Injury Summary:
As a result of the scaffold collapse, our client suffered devastating injuries to his head, neck, and spine, including skull fractures, multiple cervical and thoracic spine fractures, spinal cord compression, and a severe scalp injury. He required emergency, life-saving surgery involving extensive cervical and thoracic spine fusion, decompression, and internal fixation, followed by a prolonged hospitalization and ongoing treatment with spine specialists, orthopedists, and pain management providers.
