$2.65 Million Settlement for a Worker Seriously Injured After Falling Six Stories from a Queens Scaffold

Supreme Court, Kings County

Accident Description:

At the time of the incident, our client was performing construction work on a sixth-floor balcony at a residential building in Queens, New York. He was working from a Baker’s scaffold and was secured with a safety line while completing his assigned tasks.

While working, he lost his balance and fell backward. The safety line he was tied off to suddenly failed, causing him to fall approximately six stories to the landing below. Emergency medical services were immediately called, and he was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the fall.

Injury Summary:

As a result of the fall, our client sustained injuries involving his knees, neck, lower back, ribs, hip, and ankle. He required medical treatment for knee injuries that included fractures and ligament damage, which ultimately led to surgery. He also experienced ongoing neck and back symptoms that required continued care and affected his ability to return to work.

Settlement Result:

We at Oresky & Associates, PLLC, were able to secure $2,650,000 in compensation for our client, recognizing the seriousness of his injuries, the extensive treatment required, and the permanent effects of the accident.
