$4.6 Million Settlement for a Worker Injured After Being Hit by Falling Metal at a Westchester County Construction Site
Supreme Court, Westchester County
Accident Description:
Our client, a construction worker, was working inside an excavation pit at a construction site in Westchester County where a new building was being constructed. He was preparing the area for a concrete pour while other workers were performing cutting work on metal materials above him.
During this process, a section of a metal beam located approximately 20 feet overhead was cut and allowed to free-fall. The metal beam struck our client in the neck and arm, knocking him to the ground before he had any opportunity to avoid the falling object.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene, and our client was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment of his injuries.
Injury Summary:
As a result of being struck by falling metal, our client suffered serious injuries to his shoulders, neck, and back, including fractures to the shoulder that failed to heal properly and required ongoing medical care. Despite extensive physical therapy, injections, and pain management, he ultimately underwent multiple major surgeries, including surgeries to both shoulders, a cervical spine fusion, and a lumbar spine surgery. He continues to require medical treatment and follow-up care due to chronic pain and lasting physical limitations.
