$6 Million Settlement for a Worker Seriously Injured After Falling from a Ladder at a Bronx Construction Site

Supreme Court, Bronx County

Accident Description:

Our client was working in the basement of a building under construction in the Bronx when the accident occurred. At the time, the basement ceiling, which served as the floor of the first level above, was unfinished, consisting only of metal sheets with gaps between them, allowing water to collect on the basement floor.

While performing his assigned plumbing work, our client was standing on an eight-foot A-frame ladder. The ladder suddenly tipped over, causing him to fall to the basement floor. Emergency medical services responded to the scene, and he was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Injury Summary:

As a result of the accident, our client suffered severe injuries to his lower back, left knee, neck, and left shoulder. He sustained a serious back injury that caused chronic pain and nerve symptoms, ultimately requiring spinal surgery and ongoing pain management. He also injured his left knee, resulting in ligament and cartilage damage that required surgical intervention and continues to affect his mobility.

Settlement Result:

We at Oresky & Associates, PLLC, were able to secure a $6,000,000 pre-trial settlement in light of the extensive surgeries, chronic pain, and lasting limitations resulting from this accident.
