$3.45 Million Settlement for a Pedestrian Seriously Injured Due to Driver Error While Parking in Manhattan
Supreme Court, Bronx County
Accident Description:
Our client was standing behind his parked vehicle in Manhattan, loading baseball equipment into the trunk as part of his responsibilities overseeing a local team. While he was positioned at the rear of his car, another driver attempting to park mistakenly placed their vehicle in drive instead of reverse and accelerated forward.
The vehicle struck our client from behind, pinning him against the trunk of his own car and crushing his legs. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and he was transported by ambulance to Harlem Hospital for emergency treatment.
Injury Summary:
As a result of being crushed between the two vehicles, our client suffered devastating injuries to both legs and his shoulders. He required multiple surgeries, including repair of a fractured femur, reconstruction of the ACL in his right knee, reconstruction of the PCL in his left knee, and surgical treatment of both shoulders.
Settlement Result:
We at Oresky & Associates, PLLC, secured a $3,450,000 pre-trial settlement to address the severe injuries and lasting impact this collision had on our client’s mobility and quality of life.
